You’ll find us inside the iconic restored 1920s red barn at Surtees Corner in Kelowna’s Lower Mission. At Milk Shed Coffeehouse, we’re known for great coffee, fresh baking, and being the neighbourhood’s favourite place to gather. What was once the milk shed of the Okanagan Valley’s largest working dairy farm is now home to our cozy little coffee shop.
The more we learned about the history of this barn, the more fascinated we became by its past. Originally built as the farm’s milk shed, this is where cows were brought in and milked each day. As we transformed the space into a coffeehouse, preserving its history and character was just as important as creating a warm, welcoming place for the community.

The Barn
If you’ve ever visited us, you’ve probably met our neighbour under the same roof – Barn Owl Brewing. As Kelowna’s craft brewery scene was taking off in the Mission, Barn Owl found its home in this historic barn. A few years later, the opportunity came to take over the adjoining coffee shop space, and Milk Shed Coffeehouse was born.
That unexpected next chapter sparked a simple idea: brew beer on one side, brew coffee on the other, and open the door between them so guests could enjoy the full character of the barn no matter what they came for. Stopping in for coffee and fresh baking in the morning or pints with friends in the evening? You can enjoy this unique space from the start of the day to the very end.
Bring Your Best Friend
We often get asked if our space is pet-friendly – the answer is yes! (Almost) all of our patio is pet-friendly, and we’ve added “dog parking” leash tie-ups by the front door for when you’re popping inside to grab a coffee.
We love meeting your furry friends, and we even bake fresh dog treats in-house because your pup needs a treat too! With plenty of nearby trails, beaches, and parks to explore, we’d love to become part of you and your pup’s routine.
